Case Study – Welbilt
Air Receivers & A New Ring Main for Welbilt
The award-winning professional catering equipment manufacturers wanted to connect a new tool to their compressed air system. But would the system cope?
If you’ve eaten out virtually anywhere in recent years, there’s a good chance your food will have been prepared using kitchen equipment manufactured by Welbilt Catering Equipment Manufacturers.
The award-winning company provides the world’s top chefs, premier chain operators and growing independent food and beverage operators with industry-leading equipment. Air power is a critical part of its business, and for over two decades Welbilt has trusted Algar Air to keep it flowing.
Welbilt wanted to install a new air-powered powder coat paint plant at their Sheffield factory but they knew the new equipment, not to mention a new ring main and the plant’s distance from the compressor, would place extra pressure on their existing compressed air system. They asked us to confirm whether the system would be able to cope with the demand placed on it by the new plant.
Our engineer compared the capacity of the current compressed air system with the additional flow and pressure that would required by the paint plant. He calculated that the compressor would be more than up to the job but, to help maintain pressure all the way through the system (especially given the increased distances involved), Welbilt would need new air receivers installing.
Happy that they could avoid the capital layout of a new air compressor, Welbilt gave us the go ahead to install numerous air receivers and the ring main to power the new paint plant. We’re happy to say it’s all now up and running.
Speaking about the project, and their longstanding relationship with Algar Air, Welbilt said:
“Welbilt UK as a business have trusted Algar Air with installing and maintaining our compressed air system for many years now, so when we had the go ahead to invest in a brand-new powder coat paint plant here at our Sheffield site and the question of air supply arose there was no doubt who to contact for their expertise.
“The engineers attending site were great, very professional and fully understood our needs. The install was to take place during an extremely busy period for us. This meant working to time constraints alongside other contractors without causing disruption or downtime to production elsewhere on the site.
“Algar Air completed the install of the new air receiver and a new ring main along with all the necessary drops to various points of the equipment in a safe and timely manner and without affecting production.
“From all the team at Welbilt UK (Sheffield), thank you Algar Air.”
