Time for an upgrade? Installing a new air compressor, dryer and pipework
Discover more about our latest compressed air project in Doncaster.
Glasby Pallets is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of reconditioned pallets. Visit its four-acre Doncaster site, and you’ll find vast stacks of +150,000 pallets, ready to be supplied to a nationwide client base.
Yet Glasby doesn’t only sell pallets, it repairs them too – and that’s where we came in. We’d been servicing and maintaining Glasby Pallets’ existing air compressor for years, but age eventually catches up with every compressor and it was time for a new one.
We worked with Glasby to understand what the evolving requirements of the business were, and to understand whether it needed an entirely new system or whether elements could be reused in a new setup.
Blending old and new
In the end, we settled on a combination of old and new, installing a new, combined air compressor and dryer (BOGE S15, 15kW compressor) with an oil/water separator, but reusing the existing air receiver – which inevitably helped keep costs down.
Why we use Infinity piping
Also new was an Infinity high performance aluminium compressed air pipework system. We use Infinity for a number of reasons. Aluminium is lightweight, which makes it easier to transport, install and (should the need arise) modify.
It also tends to deliver cleaner air and a better airflow than a more traditional steel pipe. That’s further supported by aluminium’s corrosion resistance, which also helps to reduce energy costs, reduce wear on the compressor, and prolong the service life of compressor and pipework.
All in all, it’s a compressed air system that should see Glasby Pallets good for many more thousands of pallets.
